A workshop titled “Students’ Voice for the Climate” was jointly organized by Children Watch Foundation (CWF) and BARCIK at Hazaribagh Government College on 26 July 2026, with the aim of raising climate awareness among students and encouraging their active participation in addressing climate change and environmental challenges. The workshop provided an interactive platform for students to learn about climate change, its causes and impacts, and the growing environmental challenges affecting communities in Bangladesh. The session particularly emphasized the importance of understanding how individual and collective actions can contribute to climate resilience and environmental sustainability.
Discussions focused on climate awareness, sustainable practices, responsible use of natural resources, waste reduction, environmental protection, and practical actions that students can adopt in their everyday lives. Students were encouraged to share their perspectives, experiences, and ideas on how young people can contribute to tackling climate and environmental challenges within their educational institutions and communities. The workshop highlighted that young people are not only among those who will experience the long-term consequences of climate change but can also become important agents of change. By strengthening climate knowledge, encouraging environmentally responsible behaviour, and creating opportunities for meaningful participation, students can contribute significantly to building a more sustainable and climate-resilient future.
The participants also emphasized the importance of strengthening students’ voices in climate discussions and creating more opportunities for young people to engage in environmental initiatives, awareness campaigns, and community-based climate actions.
Through the workshop, CWF and BARCIK reaffirmed their commitment to engaging and empowering young people in climate action and promoting a generation that is informed, environmentally responsible, and prepared to contribute to a greener, safer, and more sustainable future.
