Satkhira’s coastal regions, including Shyamnagar Thana’s Padmapukur Union, are among the most climate-vulnerable areas. Every year, these regions are severely affected by river erosion and tidal surges, displacing countless people and causing significant losses to livelihoods. Most residents in this area belong to low-income groups and face ongoing struggles as their lands are swallowed by rivers year after year.
Fathers, unable to sustain their families, are often forced to send their young children to rivers and other hazardous work in search of income. As a result, many children drop out of school, their education halted prematurely.
In response to this dire situation, we have initiated a small-scale school program to bring these dropout children back to education. This initiative aims to offer them a chance at a brighter future, breaking the cycle of poverty and vulnerability through learning and empowerment.
