Six-year-old Iqra had a dream of going to school, but her mother, Ina Akter, couldn’t afford it due to financial hardship. Ina lives in Noil village of Chandkhali Union in Paikgachha Upazila, Khulna. After her husband abandoned the family, she has been struggling to make ends meet with her children.
In this situation, ‘Bandhujon’ and ‘CWF’ stepped forward.
A voluntary organization formed by readers of Khoborer Kagoj, Bandhujon, has recently initiated a schooling program called ‘Iqra’s School’ in Paikgachha, Khulna. Iqra and several other underprivileged children have joined this school.
According to Bandhujon sources, the inaugural event of the school was attended by Khoborer Kagoj’s editor, Mostafa Kamal. In his speech, he said, “Many children in remote areas of our country are deprived of education due to financial constraints. Through Bandhujon, we aim to stand by them.”
Bandhujon’s General Secretary, Atia Sultana, stated, “We want to ensure education for every child in the country. All members of Bandhujon will provide full support to advance this initiative.”
Meanwhile, Iqra’s mother, Ina Akter, expressed her happiness and said, “I feel great joy seeing my daughter go to school. I thank Bandhujon and CWF. What they have done for us is unforgettable.”
The initiative by Bandhujon has been supported by the ‘Children Watch Foundation (CWF).’
