Secretary’s Message
Message
It is a great honor and privilege for me to welcome to Good Education is the backbone of the nation. According to construction PART II, Article 17, “Free and compulsory education The State shall adopt effective measures for (a) establishing a uniform, mass-oriented and universal system of education and extending free and compulsory education to all children to such stage as may be determined by law; (b) relating education to the needs of society and producing properly trained and motivated citizens to serve those needs (c)removing illiteracy within such time as may be determined by law.”
Currently, the education system of Bangladesh is going through a transition period, the quality of education, dropout especially the poor and street children are being deprived of their right to education. As per Bangladesh government report “Bangladesh experiences a sizeable dropout rate of about 18% at the primary level (“Primary enrolment rate 98%’, 2020), which increases to 50% at the secondary level (Ministry of Education)”.
Now let’s come to the health sector. This slogan of “health for all” is only on paper, unfortunately, we have not yet reached affordable and quality health services to all. Still now the current infant mortality rate for Bangladesh in 2023 is 21.556 deaths per 1000 live births which is so alarming for our nation, our sanitation system is being developed rather than previous however, there is still much work to be done, our key focus will be there.
Environment is a key concern not only in Bangladesh but also all over the world. Bangladesh is clearly affected by the impact of the environmental disaster caused by the increase in carbon gas worldwide, if we are not responsible for this carbon emission, this is the reason why Bangladesh’s coastal region is facing existence today. Also unplanned urbanization is responsible for environmental degradation. Today, Dhaka is first in the list of the most polluted cities in the world. Therefore, the most important part of our work will be how to improve this environment within our limited capacity.
Today the words “Education, Health and Environment” are becoming synonymous with increasing national development. In order to make the improvement sustainable and pertinent, we are working with our development partners to institutionalize standards in the areas of Education, Health and environment. We have successfully vented a sense of awareness regarding the urgency of these three phenomena among our various stakeholders. I am sure that days are not so far when Bangladesh will be projected as the most promising country all around the globe. Finally, I would seek the spirit of togetherness from all to foster the betterment of all.
