Collective Commitment to Child Protection, Creative Development, and Building a Sustainable Future.

Children Watch Foundation (CWF) observed World Children’s Day 2025 on 20 November at the Boddhijibi Smriti Soudho, Mohammadpur, and CWF Baroikhali–Hazaribagh branches, reaffirming its commitment to ensuring child protection, nurturing creativity, and promoting sustainable development. The event was designed to address the growing challenges faced by children in urban Bangladesh ranging from limited access to nature, pollution, and lifestyle pressures which increasingly affect their physical and emotional well-being.

Research indicates that nearly 60% of children in urban areas are deprived of regular interaction with natural environments, resulting in reduced creativity, attention, and emotional sensitivity. World Children’s Day, therefore, is not only a celebratory occasion but also a meaningful reminder of the importance of child safety, education, and creative nourishment. CWF, which has long worked on child education, health, and environmental awareness, organized this program to provide children with a joyful, educational, and imagination-driven experience.

As part of the celebration, CWF organized a special art competition and a seed distribution micro-gardening session with children from CWF Pathshala. Through drawing, the children expressed their imagination of the world, showcasing their understanding of nature, harmony, and environmental care. The seed distribution activity further helped them learn how to grow plants in small spaces using limited resources, promoting values of self-reliance, responsibility, and climate-resilient habits. Together, these activities highlighted the growing importance of reconnecting children with nature. Studies show that interaction with natural environments enhances emotional regulation, empathy, and creativity skills often limited in modern urban lifestyles. CWF’s initiative encouraged children to dream, explore, and understand their surroundings with greater care.

The central theme of the celebration was “A Child’s Creativity Reflects the Promise of a Caring Planet.” By blending art with environmental education, CWF aimed to cultivate creativity while planting the seeds of environmental awareness within each child. The seed-planting activity served as a symbolic gesture, encouraging children to nurture life and embrace responsibility toward building a greener, more sustainable future.

The event concluded with joyful participation from all children as they proudly shared their artwork and took home seeds to begin their own small gardens. Through this initiative, CWF reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing environmentally conscious, creative, and responsible future citizens. The celebration successfully inspired children to learn with joy and to care for the world around them laying the foundation for a kinder, greener, and more sustainable tomorrow.
